I’m a freelance journalist, editor, and content strategist currently based in Chapel Hill, NC. I love asking questions, seeking answers, and turning those answers into stories worth sharing. Most recently this took the form of a six-part podcast series about depression for a Nashville startup company.
I especially enjoy telling important and compelling stories in the realms of food systems, business innovation, social justice, and environmental sustainability. I’ve reported for NPR on vertical farming in Middle Tennessee, for Southern Foodways Alliance on the financial challenges faced by first-generation farmers, for Blue Ridge Outdoors on the stories of 12 Appalachian Trail thru-hikers, and for The Nashville Post Magazine on the burgeoning tech-focused meetup community in Nashville.
In addition to reporting for the above publications and more, I also am a top-ranked teacher on the learning platform Skillshare. I recently published my second class about best practices for successful freelancing. I’ve also enjoyed writing blog articles for LinkedIn ProFinder.
Some of my favorite hobbies are traveling (especially internationally), backpacking (backcountry), running (half marathons), reading (nonfiction and classic literature), and vermicomposting (i.e. pet worms).
