Orientación

What a day! This is the big day of orientation that I wish I had gotten months ago, even though I still have huge questions lingering.

The Stairwell Adventure

I’ve been here for only one full day, and I’m already loving it. After I finished my last blog post, I met up with the four other UNC kids studying here in Pamplona. We convened at Brooke’s apartment, which is a 10-minute walk from mine. She and I both live very close to the university.

Day 0, Part II

To my relief, my train from Madrid to Pamplona was on time, as was my roommate Ana, who met me at the Pamplona station. Her novio (boyfriend) drove us the six or seven minutes to what I can now call “my” apartment. It’s lovely! Hardwood floors, big windows, a huge comfy couch in the common room, a big dining table, all very clean — as well as lots of things some Americans might take for granted but I have at times lived without: solid wifi, an effective dishwasher, a washing machine, and (the novelty will never wear off) my own room. 🙂

Day 0: Arrival in Spain!

Finally in Spain! Nearly 24 hours of traveling (not to mention a seven-hour time difference from Colorado) has landed me in Madrid (!!!), where I am now sitting in a cafe at the train station. Here’s what I’ve done since I left the Bolthouse ranch in Breckenridge early yesterday morning:

Pre-trip Presentiment

In 12 hours (!!!) I begin my long journey to Spain. Car, bus, plane, taxi, train: I feel like I’m using every mode of transportation to get to what will be my home for the next five months.
